As for the freedom to play Happy, if the government will ban someone else's music, it's only a matter of time before they ban mine. The thought police are about to arrive at any minute. Don't expect me to show up at any kind of rally playing it though unless wearing think headphones.

I think everybody in this thread is missing the real problem at the heart of the matter.  It's not a matter of whether or not Pharrell had the right to free speech or that quality of his music is harmful to the general populace.  Both of these are very true facts, but what we do miss is that none of this would've been possible if somebody didn't go back in time and told Pharrell in the first grade that he should consider another dream besides becoming an astronaut or a firefighter.
