Ummm...no, not at all in the same league.  Spiking a tree is a thing a person does with the GOAL of hurting somebody physically.  The truck assholes aren't trying to blind hippies so they'll drive into trees, I'm not saying it can't happen (extremely unlikely), but that's not why they are doing it.

Having lived in TX for too long, I've seen these coal rollers on the highways long before it became some sort of conservative meme. They're (the truck and its driver) as noisy, dirty, and potently anti-social as one would anticipate.

The bold part is correct, but you left out one important adjective: rich. It's rich suburban and faux-rural -- the family makes it money in the city or the suburbs, but lives in a ranch in the sticks for image and tax purposes -- brats who alter their trucks like this.

Indeed.  Poor kid's trucks often smoke like mad too, but rarely on purpose and almost never out of "stacks" like that.
