Given all the evidence, do you believe Nagin was, as the prosecution presented a "mayor on the take" or a honest public servant who tried to do the best for New Orleans?

Miles is going to jail ?!? (rumor mongering)

There should be an entire wing of Louisiana politicians by now, Plaquemines Sheriff, Jefferson and St. John Parish Prez, Mandeville Mayor, St. Tammany Coroner, and of course Dollar Bill.

I maintain that Nagin was honest and aboveboard until he unfairly received most of the blame from Katrina. He was elected as the de facto white pro-business candidate in 2002, and he made great strides improving the city and rooting out corruption. When Katrina was coming he was hesitant to call the city's first ever mandatory evacuation due to liability issues that major hotels were threatening him with. When he received the report that Katrina was indeed hitting the city head on, he stayed up through the night with the city attorney to craft the city's first ever mandatory evacuation notice and sort through related protocol. Within the city the predisaster plans of getting people out and picking up everyone who was staying to the Superdome actually worked pretty well. But then, the levees collapsed, the emergency plans that LA and FEMA said they had prepared turned out to not exist, and Nagin comes out of it looking terrible. He panders to the black community as his only avenue to reelection, and throughout the entirety of his second term proceeded to not give a f[Inks] about anything since most locals hated him and he had zero shot at winning higher office

Only first 8 counts in; he's guilty on all except one.

Streaming.

Edit: Guilty on 20 of 21 counts Tongue

That one he wasn't guilty on was fairly minor; he got slammed on all the big stuff.

The Meffert-St. Pierre storyline actually began in 2004 and Nagin was taking family vacations on their dime before Katrina.  He made a poor choice for Police Chief in his first term too and really should have had James Singleton as his Chief of Staff or is some capacity as a counter weight to the rather arrogant group he surrounded himself with.  He always seemed to excessive hubris from the get-go which many of his supporters in the media and business community seemed to encourage.

I have no doubt that at some point he reached a f{inks} it moment, but his downfall began well before Katrina.
