Snowstalker, you have 72 hours to present yourself to the senate.
Senators, you have 72 hours to ask him any questions.

An additional time of 48 hours may be given if 2 senators wish to continue the debates.

I guess there's not much to say when this position is based specifically in taking care of the wiki, and regardless of our ideological differences I believe Snowstalker is an active Atlasian that can certainly perform that job in a satisfactory way.

If anything, my questions are about your earlier experience editing the Atlasia wiki and if you plan to limit yourself to the statue or reform some pages regarding some extint parties or recent news/officeholders that seem to have been neglected for the past months. I think we can all agree that pages of private citizens are left to private citizens (because really, it would be a pain to update them all), but I'm curious about the pages I mentioned.

Snowstalker as Deputy A.G won't be concerned with the wiki, that'll be simfan's job. He'll be performing all the other A.G's jobs.

Regardless, I fully support this appointment.

Actually, are we even sure simfan doesn't need to be confirmed? When he became Game Moderator surely he left the AG vacant?

Please feel free to tell me to go away, but I'm curious as to why Snowstalker has the Deputy AG role while he'll functionally be performing all the tasks of the Attorney General proper, while Simfan will have the title but only  be editing the Wiki.

The A.G. has two tasks: To edit the Wiki (statutes and resolutions, mainly) and to handle litigation. The Deputy Attorney General has no specified tasks other than to "assist" the A.G.

Since Snowstalker cannot edit the Wiki (so I'm told) but has shown an interest in litigation, it is only blindingly sensible to allow Simfan to continue as A.G. and worry about the Wiki, and to allow Snowstalker to handle litigation, since that's his interest. In any event, which one is which isn't a big deal officially.

The specific title means fairly little to me, though I suppose to make things clearer Simfan and I could just swap titles (dunno how easily that could be done).

Anyway, one need only look at my successful challenge to the blatanly unconstitutional LGBT Equality Act, which was written with benign intentions but turned out to be a horrific mess that did far more damage than it solved. As Deputy Attorney General, I will both act out the will of the President faithfully and diligently and, when approved to do so by him, act as prosecutor as I did over a month ago. I would say more if I had more to say, but at this point I will accept any questions from the Senate to ensure that your vote to confirm me is as well-informed as it can be.

I wholeheartedly support making Snowstalker the face of the Atlasian law enforcement system.

While I don't like the idea of Snowstalker abandoning the race for Midwest Althing, His hard work in the Midwest case has proven his litigation ability. #endorsed

Since you will be handling litigation, I would ask what your opinions is on the legal concerns that came up over the past week regarding thE constitutionality of passing an authorization for the use of force as opposed to a formal declaration of war?

The ISIS is not a state recognized by any country in the world; instead, it is universally designated as a terrorist organization. At the writing of the United States Constitution (OOC: Atlasia started with US law in 2004 so I assume history also applies here), a declaration of war implied the commencement of military conflict with an enemy state which we recognized--the first instance of this congressional power used was against Britain in the War of 1812. However, no declaration of war was given for the earlier attack on the Barbary Coast pirates; although backed by Ottoman vassal states the pirates were not sovereign in and of themselves. Therefore, if the proposal is for a campaign against the Sunni Islamist rebels in Iraq, a formal declaration of war would not be needed and a congressional authorization would suffice.

But where in the Constitution is the Senate empowered to authorize force against a non-state entity?

ISIS has grown into a criminal enterprise which directly threatens the existing national governments of Iraq and Syria. Though I personally oppose direct intervention against ISIS, the authority to do so is plainly implied.
