Reading that Scandinavian cartoon got my thinking about this.  The artist said she didn't know anybody that can't ride and said it with pride, but then I was thinking, I don't know anybody that can't ride either.....so....here we are.

I should hope so, it's my daily mode of transportation.

Never learnt. Where I lived when I was growing up it would have been suicide. Actually going outside onto the roads without a car was too. I have terrible hand-eye co-ordination anyway, which is one of the reasons I'm terrified about learning to drive.

Yes, but I prefer not to. I find bicycle seats extremely uncomfortable on the posterior. Even at the gym, I strongly prefer the elliptical to the bicycle for that reason.

I ride my bike around Brooklyn on occasion because it's a quick ten minute ride to Williamsburg or Park Slope.  I would do it more, but I'm afraid of being injured or killed.  NYC has a dangerous combination of no traffic law enforcement and tons of crazy people.

Yes, of course. It's my only form of transportation (besides walking, which I hate).

Oh, come on! NYC is one of the best cities in the US to ride a bike in, as long as it isn't Queens.

Maybe in Manhattan where they have bike lanes divided from vehicle traffic.  Our bike lanes in Brooklyn are often used for parking and unloading trucks and we have to deal with crazy Hasids and ghetto biker gangs.

I like the video the NYC biker made after he got a ticket for riding outside the "bike lane".

I'm not a fan of walking either. And busing is not as fast as biking, even in the winter. And it's far more expensive (this city has expensive public transit).

If I drove to work, it would take only half the time, but it would be a huge waste of money (price of parking, gas, insurance, maintenance, etc).

Given the options, I would be a moron not to rely on my bicycle for my commute.

That video is hilarious.  As another illustration of the annoyance of riding a bike in NYC:

It's really brilliant how the cops use bike lanes, since cops can't get parking tickets, they have a bunch of cops only parking all over the city.

Yes. I'm not the only one who is crazy, either. It's a 25-30 minute commute in the winter, so it's not that bad if you dress appropriately.

Yes, I know I can, but I think the last time I did was about five years ago (and that was actually the first time in several years).

Option 5. I have not ridden a bicycle since before 9-11. They say you never forget, but I think I actually have.

I used to bike to University when the weather was nice (~30 min), but I'm taking the bus now since it's a PITA to bike in the downtown core of my city.
