So then the President vets and selects one person from those who are interested, or goes looking for a GM in the event that no one is interested. And then someone else can dismiss this person? That seems strange. I'm not sure the problem this amendment is intended to rectify is a problem in the first place.  So I will not be voting in favor of this if it passes.

This has enough votes to fail.
Senators, you have 24 hours to change your vote.

On second thought, I'm switching my vote to NAY.

The results of the vote:
Aye (2): Senator bore, Senator Lumine
Nay (5): Senator TNF, Senator Tyrion, Senator Alfred F. Jones, Senator Griffin, Senator Goldwater
Non voting (3): Senator DC, Senator North Carolina Yankee, Senator shua

This amendment fails.
I, Windjammer, president of the senate, certify these results are accurate.

(for the senators who missed the vote, you have until July, 27,2014,10:59:52 am to vote if you want your vote to be counted in my windjammer senate ratings.

Abstain FTR

I am somewhat tempted by one, but I don't see the point of the second clause.

I'm well aware that I could be dismissed easily by any president but I don't think any president is going to dismiss a gm for partisan reasons. That has never happened. The President deserves to pick his or her own GM.

I guess there is just a fundamental disagreement here over whether the GM is a member of the Cabinet.

As far as I could remember it was generally accepted that he was not.
