In most of the country, Cuomo is just a generic D like O'Malley, aside from the sort of people who read web sites like this one. National media don't cover Albany.

I think the SAFE Act could seriously harm Cuomo's chances in the Midwest and states like FL, VA & CO.

Since pro-NRA forces couldn't sink Obama in 2012 I think its hard to see how they would sink Cuomo.  Obama totally wrote off pro-NRA voters and stilll won Florida, Virginia, and Colorado.

If Cuomo is nominated, I will campaign for the Republican.

There are two reasons for this:

1. He's the worst.
And why exactly is this?  He seems pretty good, at least from what i've read.

I'd like to know why anyone thinks the Democrats should nominate another corporatist—let alone New York Governor Andrew Cuomo?

Again this thread is not about whether or not Dems should nominate Cuomo. I'm here to discuss his electoral chances if he ran.

I'm not in the mood to discuss what an actual Cuomo presidency might be like, I am more interested in hearing opinions about this electoral possibility as far as winning the primary and the presidency. He's proven to be a solid vote getter so far. O'Malley and Biden are not realistic options.

How are Vice President Biden and Martin O'Malley not realistic options?  The Vice President hasn't lost his party's nomination since Alben Barkley lost in 1952. Martin O'Malley is, arguably, one of the most successful progressive governors in America and was the chairman of the DGA.  Both Biden and O'Malley have also proven to be "solid" vote getters in their respective states (and nationally in Biden's case).  Should Hillary Clinton not run, both Biden and O'Malley are very possible nominees.

People know that Cuomo runs, it is almost as bad for the Republikkkans as if hilary runs.

Cuomo is great for Republicans in that he basically identical to the GOP on economic issues and, most likely, foreign policy issues.

He's been unironically called "Governor One Percent". He's not "pretty good" at all unless guns and gay marriage are the only issues you care about.

Why would the Democrats nominate a New York Republican?

Last time a Republican ran in a Democratic primary, even as an incumbent, he got crushed by Ned Lamont.
