This Speaker is currently just the last budget passed by the Assembly, and is here as a baseline so we can amend it to account for bills passed since it was implemented and find other places to pump money into.

Continually running a surplus could be potentially problematic in the future. Is there anything that we can bump up the funding for here?

We will need to increase spending in public safety by $2 billion to account for this bill. Other than that, we'd probably need to introduce some more bills to chip into it a bit more. A broader anti-homelessness initiative than the one we currently have, perhaps?

Ok.

1. We'll need to change the budget to account for the income tax change Dallasfan pointed out in this thread. I thought I had changed it when Deus pointed out the same thing in the legislation introduction thread, but apparently I missed it. Tongue

2. Do you guys think $1 billion this trimester would be sufficient for the time being to fund the "Check on Power" act?

GM Napoleon has informed me we will be getting some numbers on this ASAP.

Thank you Napoleon for the revenue figures.

In addition to some additional spending on the "Check on Power" act and homelessness (which would be supplemented by a grant from the federal government), why not include a small tax rebate?

Taxation for that income bracket has been abolished.

We need to sort out a few things first though.

1. How much is the new Homelessness bill going to cost us?

2. Are we all okay with $1 billion for the Check on Power Act?

The purchasing of taxpayer funded sports stadiums stipulated by the End Sports Stadium Corporate Welfare act will probably cost us a significant amount of money. I've asked GM Napoleon for a cost estimate.

I propose the following amendment. It accounts for the increased revenue, additional $1 billion for public safety, and additional $2.236 billion for economic development. Overall, our surplus changes very little. Due to that situation and the generally good state of the regional economy, I agree with Dallasfan, and will not accept $1 billion from the federal government for funding our homelessness initiative.

Can we bring the updated budget to a vote?

I thought we had abolished the lower income bracket, and left that one intact.

As for the disaster relief fund, is it still possible to remove that line?
