Still 1-1 and without the only Austrian player I've heard of?

Yes, absolutely funny.

Hope it lasts the final 10 minutes.

I'm still quite happy with the performance today and David Luiz's goal should have not been given because he clearly fouled a defender twice before scoring by head.

Wow, Germany beat Spain somehow. Is the first time this has ever happened?

Germany's last win against Spain was in August 2000, 4-1 in a friendly.

Germany's last competitive victory over Spain was at Euro 88 (as West Germany, in West Germany), 2-0 in the group stage.

Against Germany/West Germany, Spain's record is W7, D6, L9.
Against East Germany, it's W0, D2, L1.

Meanwhile, the Ivory Coast won the African Cup of Nations, defeating Ghana in a dramatic penalty shootout. In terms of major knockout tournaments next on the docket are Copa America (watch out for Brazil and Argentina) and the Gold Cup (USA v Mexico, though both Jamaica and Panama are sleepers),

VAMOS PORTUGAL! Feels like we're playing an old Benfica squad between Matic, Markovic, and Duricic. Hell, Stojkovic used to be the keeper at Sporting, so this feels like some kind of strange Liga Zon Sagres match.

Iceland-Kazakhstan 3-0. Dominating! Wink The goals.

Second now, six points ahead of the Dutch, but for one more game.

The cool thing with those qualifiers is you don't have to bother following our annoying team.

Welcome to France!

(in case those 3 words together still make sense)

Wales look set to qualify with their win over Belgium yesterday.

Ireland vs Scotland in half an hour, if Scotland win - I think Poland, Germany and Scotland will be the top three. If Ireland win - then I think it's between Ireland and Scotland for third.

Russia vs. Austria starts in a little more than 2 hours.

My prediction:

2-2

After the 1st half:

Russia 0, Austria 1

Hopefully we are not getting invaded and annexed if it stays that way ... Tongue

Yes !

Final score:

Russia 0, Austria 1

Another 3 points today and this means we are virtually guaranteed to be in France next year ... Smiley

I'm pretty happy with our [Scotland's] result this weekend - a draw in Ireland.

Shame the officials were appalling - we should've been 0-0 at half time playing against ten men (at least).

Win three of our last four games - and I think we'll qualify automatically. We should be Georgia and Gibraltar. I feel we could beat one of Poland and Germany - we have to play them both at Hampden.

At this stage, I wouldn't rule out Germany finishing third in our group.

Going to France ...

Austria rout Sweden to qualify for Euro 2016

Solna (Sweden) (AFP) - Austria will appear at only their second European Championships finals after their 4-1 thrashing of Sweden secured their place at next year's finals in France on Tuesday in Solna.

Swiss coach and former international midfielder Marcel Koller guided the Austrians to a place in France after their maiden appearance at the final stages in 2008 when they automatically qualified as co-hosts with Switzerland.

Also: With the 4-1 against Sweden yesterday, Austria will likely be in the TOP-10 of the best ranked national teams worldwide soon. Currently, we are 13th.

That's an amazing change from about 5-10 years ago, when the Austrian football team was a total joke, ranked only 105th in the world:

Iceland and Wales (assuming they beat Andorra) have qualified - amazing for those two. Northern Ireland aren't too far away either. Could be quite a few new countries in the Euro finals.

And the Netherlands will likely miss out on qualifying, having lost to both Iceland and Turkey. Unbelievable.

Yeah, it's not looking good for you guys.

Anyway, tonight is the big game Austria vs. Liechtenstein - which concludes our quali stage ... Tongue
