Do you want to run for office at some point in your life?

Yes, maybe in the future (at least 20-25 years from now).

What holding me back is:

1) I don't take criticism well.

2) Perhaps more importantly, I have a slight-to-mild stutter when I speak. If you've seen The King's Speech, I have what King George VI had. To control it, I usually have to talk slow; probably not good when most politicians of today seem to have flashier oratory skills. There have been some success stories, though. Frank Wolf, Joe Biden and John Stossell all had similar stutters but overcame them. We'll see.

This is why I like online forums like this so much. You can articulate ideas, policies, etc. without having to worry about speech. I know I can sometimes maybe be obnoxious on here, ya know, by posting and commenting on every single story about Congressional races I follow, but its kinda to compensate for my stutter in real life. Kinda cheesy, but oh well.

I was originally majoring in International Studies at LSU. One of the core courses required was Intro to Anthropology. There were two courses that had to chose from: ANTH 1001 (Biological) or ANTH 1003 (Cultural). By chance, I took ANTH 1003 and really liked it. I thought the professor was great and wanted to take more courses. Over time, I took so many ANTH courses that I could get an International Studes-Anthropology double major.

I think the ideas of cultural anthropology, like modernity and globalization, are interesting and relevant.

Ironically, if I happened to take ANTH 1001 first (Biological), I wouldn't have found Anthropology interesting at all. Science was usually my worst subject and that course would have likely turned me off. Anthropology has fields: cultural, linguistic, biological and archaeology. I was lucky to be exposed to the cultural side first.

When I tell people I'm an Anthropology major, I inevitably get some kinda reference to Indiana Jones. No, I'm not interested in fossils or bones (not to say that the archaeology or biological fields aren't important). I'm just more interested in things that are, ya know, living!

Hopefully, within the next few years, I'll be going back to get my Master's degree in Anthropology.

A bunch of my geek friends have all suddenly decided to start playing this weird LARP thing called Ingress in the past couple months, and now my Facebooks and blogspaces are jam-crudded with all sorts of incomprehensible stuff about hosing blue and somesuch.  How do I get them to shut up?

You got some weird friends then, because most Ingress players hate Facebook and actually primarily use Google Plus instead (yes there are people that use G+, although pretty much all fall into very specific groups) and hate discussing it on Facebook, some even consider it a sort of defilement or something that's beneath the game. Oh and about 85% of Ingressers hate LARPers too, especially the LARPers who play Ingress and look completely insane to everyone else.

But my advice: Join and sign up and it'll make more sense. Plus it's on iOS now too if that's the phone you use.

Who are you supporting in the 2016 Democratic primaries besides Bernie Sanders?

I really don't know, tbh. I fear the election is going to be fairly depressing for me compared to 2008 and 2012... Sad I guess I could get myself behind someone like Gillibrand, or O'Malley. Schweitzer seemed great before his remarks about Cantor.

Gillibrand and O'Malley doesn't strike as particularly more progressive than Madame Clinton.

How come you are (relatively) sceptical of labour unions?

^ I was skeptical, but I've kinda come back around to being pro-union. I guess growing up in places that lacked a strong union presence, I didn't really know that much about them.

If nothing else, this blather helped to change my mind.

You're using words that, in isolation, look like they came from the English language, but all I can make out here is fantastical word salad that would make Finnegan's Wake blush in modesty.

Oh and about 85% of Ingressers hate LARPers too, especially the LARPers who play Ingress and look completely insane to everyone else.

Uh, dude, Ingress is a LARP.  That's what I was referring toTongue

Yes! The regions I like to study, at least from the perspective of a cultural anthropologist, are northern Africa, the Caribbean and Native America.

Do you get your fiber naturally or do you take supplements (or do you just poop inconsistently)?

My best friend got drunk and dumped her at a party.  I walked her home and 34 years later still going.  Bottom line......don't look and you'll find. Smiley

Naturally. Proper pooping has never been an issue. Care for colon well, middle ager
