Why do you suggest that atheists like Seth McFarlane and I "accept Jesus"?  You've called me a great poster, you've lauded the genius of Mr. McFarlane, but at the same time want to change something that certainly plays a role in how we go about things and the opinions that we have.

do you ever regret joining the navy?

Oh dear god, yes.  Ship life is absolutely dreadful and I've been depressed since I got to this command.

What is your favorite Update episode, season or story arc? What is your favorite memory of opebo?

Episode: "cleaning the meat" during The Diet.  I love that quote more than any other from Our Dear Friend.  Also the saga about heating the pipes with the incandescant (sp?) light bulb was brilliant.

Season: Probably the season that mostly involved CADD and Walking.  Bushie's days were able to be so elaborately catargorized based upon attendance, walking, doctor's notes, inclement weather, valid/invalid excuses, etc.  Great stuff.

Story arc: I'm not sure it can be called a singular "story arc", but the neverending series of conundrums that epitomize Update isw funny beyond words.  The Deer, the jackoff hobo, etc.

Favorite memory of opebo: DEFINITELY his completely manic nature during the 2012 election, epitomized in the brilliant "A black can't win a close election" topic.  His wild swings from sunny optimism to outright despair reminded me of a sports fan who is wasted at the championship game, with all his wit thrown in.

Have you ever done it with a raccoon?

No, I haven't.  But raccoons ARE one of my favorite animals, so it's funny you should ask.

What are your opinions of Pope Benedict XVI, sex-negative feminism, and teetotalers?

Was that Pope the previous one with the Nazi ties?  Awful, of course.  Especially since the current one seems to be very concerned with actual social justice, so the previous Pope looks even worse in comparison.

I don't know what the other two are, and I'm on a very slow internet connection.  If you could explain further, I'd be happy to give you my opinion.

Why exactly are you so against religion?

I see it as the willful and "virtuous" abandon of critical thought, and the main source of prejudice, bigotry, hatred, and conflict in the world.  That is the abbreviated answer.

An interesting poster with a unique brand of cynicism that, while being a bit of a heartless bastard, was utterly hilarious.  I greatly enjoyed reading his posts.  People who go that hard against the grain tend to give you something to think about.

I'm pretty sure you wouldn't care for them--sex-negative feminism is next to nonexistent as a proactive movement but is generally a term used semi-sarcastically for a reaction within feminism against sex-positive feminism, a kind commonly associated with perhaps excessive comfort with pornography, prostitution, and overall sexualization of society (typically on what 'sex-negative feminists' consider excessively libertarianesque 'choice' grounds); teetotalers are people who oppose all (non-medicinal, non-religious) consumption of alcohol. My entire question was intended as a joke.

Also, I know this wouldn't affect your opinion all that much nor would I expect it to, but Benedict 'had Nazi ties' in about the same way that Jürgen Moltmann did. That was always one of the more specious criticisms of his papacy.

I figured, just thought I'd ask.  And the Nazi-ties remark is just... ya know.. would I be being myself if I didn't?

Is that like Episcopalianism?  My aunt, uncle, and cousins are Episcopalian, and I used to go to the church they go to.  I'm generally accepting of it, because it would seem that they take from the faith what is useful and fulfilling to them, and reject the gunk.  I do think they can do just as well and probably better without it, but it's not terribly destructive in and of itself.

Why did you join the Navy? Would you recommend it?

Because I was going through a tough time at home and I made, as I'm known to do, a very rash and impulsive decision that I felt had other financial/career benefits to it.  Whether or not I recommend it is incredibly subjective.  It is not for everyone, as I am learning in a most harsh way.  If you are one to get homesick, don't.

What's with your jihad against Ronald Reagan? It's fine to not like him, but why so extreme?

Because Ronald Reagan is everything I hate about American politics.  The coded racism, the bowing down to corporate interests, the prioritization of upper class profit over middle class advancement, the portrayal of America as a Christian nation.  That's all bad enough... and then on top of it he is revered like no other not named Lincoln or Washington.  The legend of his greatness is so intrinsic to American politics anymore that I have to listen to liberal politicians I generally like endlessly praise him, and I have to serve on a Navy aircraft carrier bearing his name.  I find it insulting and nauseating.
