Their only two albums were great.  The tribute band touring under their name for the past however many years is unfortunate, but so it goes.

On balance, Horrible Band.

The alternate universe version that released only the first two albums and an EP consisting of a couple tracks that ended up on this universe's green album and then broke up is definitely a Freedom Band though.

FB on par, terrible now. I've never been too into them. I really like their song El Scorcho, however.

I have only heard their cover of "The Weight", but anyone who covers The Band is automatically a FF....except for Joan Baez.

Freedom as a whole, but they are hard to take seriously (unless the more recent albums have good deep cuts that help the albums)

Still legends, though.

What does "deep cuts" mean?

Not a released single.  Just a regular album track.  (edit)Songs only fans of band (or as is often the case, fans of that particular album) would know.

(though some "famous" songs where never released as singles or at least where not meant to be singles.  Stairway to Heaven is the primary example)

Thank you. Curious that I'd never encountered the term, it is an excellent one. I have to agree with Obamanation, then, too. Singles are typically a terrible gauge.

Case in point, Beverly Hills is nothing like the rest of its album.

I agree with the consensus, good/great band but really only the first two albums matter.

.....but I do like Beverly Hills and Hash Pipe.....perhaps I'm a sell out or something.
