Who would you have voted for in the run-off round of the 1990 Louisiana gubernatorial election?

I assume you're talking about 1991. Anyway, Edwin Edwards (duh). I'm not that extreme.

Yes, my apologies. However the platform Duke was running on was not substantially different from that of Thurmond in 1948.

Do you think a few years time you'll look back on your 2014 self and realize that, indeed, you were a racist, or, at least, a "racist by implication?" Holding up George Wallace on a pedestal isn't really doing you any favours.

That is what happened to me, and I hope that Dixiecrat (who seems like a nice enough guy) will come to find that out himself.

Thurmond wasn't an open Neo-Nazi, nor did Thurmond call for the execution of minorities, nor did Thurmond demand deportations of all non-white Americans.

I may be wrong, but was Thurmond any worse than the rest of the southern Democrats in 1948? His real issues with race became apparent in the 1960s when the rest of the Southern Democratic Senators slowly began to change, and he didn't.

You're right, Thurmond was a generic Southern Democrat before the 60's. If any other Southern senator did the same filibuster instead of Thurmond, they would have gotten his notoriety.

Are there any Democrats today you would consider voting for?

Also, what is your opinion on the revisionist history of Oldiesfreak where he claims that it was the evil liberal Democrats who supported segregation or people like Wallace and Thurmond, and these segregationists would still be liberal Dems today?  You certainly seem to contradict this notion of Oldies.
