Is the food there really better than what KFC sells?  I've gotten the impression that KFC is a national favorite, whereas Chick-fil-A love mainly derives from a regional circlejerk.  That's obviously not a huge surprise considering that few restaurants are located outside the South, but I've yet to hear a redeeming, non-biased case for it over KFC.

Weirdly enough my friends in PA are all gaga for it. I think it's the best chicken place in the Northeast myself.

Thankfully, I've been able to move away from it more since Raising Cane's has become serious in Oklahoma, but you obviously don't know what you're talking about if you're comparing KFC and Chick-Fil-A in terms of food.

You know, Chick fil a is great, but this southern hate is enough. Charleston is one of the culinary destinations of the south, and we compete with New York and other big name cities in America for our restaurant and bar scene. And I've been to DC, NYC, Boston, and many other places.

But enough with my rant, I have been learning about corporation law all day, chick fil a is different than KFC in the sense that their food feels different. KFC is GREAT, don't get me wrong, I love their bucket of chicken tenders with 100 sauces, but chick fil a holds a special place in my heart, notwithstanding their views on gay marriage. They're far different than KFC, different demographics and ambiance.

It tastes healthier. That is, when I bite into my favorite chicken sandwich, it isn't oozing grease.

But I totally understand your desire to stay away from the establishment because its owner goes to church or something.

FTR, this wasn't intended to be a "Southern hate thread" or anything political or whatnot; I just wanted opinions on the food itself.

Here's a crazy idea: walk around the corner and taste it.

I only eat KFC for the mashed potatoes and gravy.  Chick-fil-A is good at what they do.  When it comes to food, never pay attention to the people who run it, just eat it.

Actually, Chick-fil-A recently passed KFC to become the nation's largest "limited service" chicken eatery in terms of market share.

What should be alarming to the fast food giants out there is that Chick-Fil-A probably has the most domestic growth potential of any large limited service chain out there.  States like Wisconsin and Michigan only have one Chick-fil-A each, while North Carolina has 145.  If Chick-fil-A could acheieve national saturation like what it has in NC, it would have 4701 locations making it the tenth larget fast food restaurant in the country.  The growth potential is absolutely amazing.

KFC, when good, is mediocre. Chick-fil-A is actually pretty decent for fast food chicken. I mean, it's not gourmet food, but I find Chick-fil-A to be much better than KFC.

Yeah, Chick-fil-A is really good. I had a chicken sandwich and Vanilla Shake today. Yum.

I guess I'll try it when I'm actually in NC, since Connecticut, unsurprisingly, has none. Tongue

I wish Chick-fil-A would find its way to Alaska. Would like to try them. All which is up here is that dreadful KFC. And we have soooooooo many of those. Angry

I don't think KFC's anyone's favorite, let alone a national favorite.

(in other words, yes)

They don't really even serve the same type of food. If you want pieces of fried chicken, go to KFC. But in terms of quality I'd say chick-fil-a is much, much better than KFC. That being said, Raising Cane's has the best chicken tenders hands down.

I've never had Chick-fil-A, but being better than KFC is not difficult.

Chick-fil-A is definitely better than KFC.  However, Zaxby's is generally slightly better than Chick-fil-A, save for two specific areas.  Chick-fil-A has waffle fries and stand alone Chick-fil-A's generally have an excellent children's play area.  I know of people who aren't particularly in tune with the owner's non-business opinions who nevertheless eat there when they are with their kids because of that.

Chick Fil-A is the better of the two, but I've only been there a few times because they're so dang expensive. Their deluxe chicken and chicken strips do taste good, though.

KFC's prices aren't much better, but their fried chicken, chicken sandwiches, and popcorn chicken just isn't what it used to be. My local KFC's will often give lukewarm or slightly cold orders to go plus their fries and other sides are mediocre. With that said, Popeye's prices and their great food quality puts them at the top of fast food chicken places for sure. Tongue

I don't think I've ever even seen a Chick-fil-A here. I guess they don't have them on the west coast...

Chick-fil-A and KFC are both awful.

I eat Popeye's (normal).

Chick-fil-A is far better than KFC. They make great chicken without overdoing the grease. But by far and away the best chicken restaurant is Church's.

I approve of this post.

Seriously, if you had to put a political litmus test on everything you ate, you would be missing out on a lot.

BTW, I personally prefer KFC because of the biscuits though I like both for their chicken.
