Johnson, though with hindsight of Vietnam, I might have just sat that one out.

I would have voted for Goldwater, reluctantly. I mean we share similar view points (both fiscally lean conservative, socially lean liberal, and foreign policy neocons), and I absolutely despise LBJ, but as a racial minority, you have to understand why my vote for him would be reluctant. I would've voted for JFK in 1960 though, so I would've been one of the few Kennedy 1960-Goldwater 1964 voters who was not white, and lived outside the south.

This would have been tough.  I don't think too highly of LBJ and likely wouldn't have then, but I might have been pretty bitter from the primaries (where I would have supported Rockefeller or Scranton), so I might have stayed home. :/  Terrible election.

Really both terrible choices, though I find Goldwater to be a rather likable fellow. If he had voted for the civil rights act I could easily see myself voting for him over Johnson. (especially with some of his other stances on liberties) But in this instance I honestly would probably just write-in RFK.

Indeed, here is an exhaustive list of all the LBJ voters in this thread who have praised the Vietnam War:

It's sure Goldwater was so well known for being a pacifist. Wasn't he him who wanted to use the nuclear weapon???
