In honor of my 420th post, I decided that this would be the perfect time to post this poll. Do you support the legalization of marijuana?  In my opinion, I think we should (R).

Also, inb4 Adam.

There has been a mistake. The poll question should read "Do you support the legalization of marijuana?"

Sorry for the inconvenience.

Yes (I/O). There's no reason why it should be illegal; especially given the fact that alcohol and cigarettes, both of which are far worse than marijuana in every way, are legal.

Yes, but at the same time make tobacco illegal so that we're not taking away jobs from hard-working DEA agents and privately-owned prison guards and the families that depend on them back at home.

This place's social views are so very disconnected and insular.

Anyway, of course I do. I think it should be taxed and that that money should go towards various social initiatives.

Although I think its proponents are ludicrously optimistic, especially in its benefits for taxation (LEGALISE TO END THE DEFICIT!!!); I do support legalisation.

Well I certainly don't think people should be ever prosecuted for using it.

Exactly. As soon as they figure out how to properly tax it, marijuanna, and other drugs will become legal.

I do wonder how legalization will effect low-level drug dealers. How many people rely on drug-dealing to supplement their income? Or even as their primary source? What will happen to them when they are no longer needed?

Didn't Freakonomics suggest that drug dealing paid the equivalent of $3/hr? It probably won't have that much of an impact if the income was that minimal.

No, though its punishment should be rehab, not jail, for first time offenders. Tobacco should be similarly treated. All harder drugs should remain illegal as is the case currently.

Of course, but mostly for economic reasons. Can't say I would partake in it much if it were recreationally legalized.

So much for dying from "dank herb" then.
