Not registered with a party as Wisconsin does not require registration. Once I officially switch everything over to Maryland, I'll register with the Democrats.

I am a registered member of the Democratic Party, and have been since 2010. I'll be correcting this when I move to Illinois next month and register as a member of the Green Party.

I'm a card-carrying member of the Liberal Party of Canada and the Progressive Conservative Association of Alberta.  Because I was born in Seattle and lived there for the first 6 years of my life, I can register to vote in Washington State, and at some point I will get around to filling out and sending in the necessary paperwork.  Washington has non-partisan voter registration, although I would certainly be a registered Democrat if it registered them on a partisan basis instead.

I'm guessing your rationale for being a Tory is that the Liberals in Alberta are very weak and/or because of their non-affiliation with the federal party?

It's due to a combination of factors, including personal support for my local MLA, support (in general, not for everything) of the PC government's agenda, and yes, the fact that the ALP is presently non-competitive in most of Calgary.  The fact that Raj Sherman is the ALP leader doesn't help.  On the flip side (aka the federal side), I have no support for my local MP (Harper), and I would stongly prefer a LPC government over the current CPC one.

Mind you, my case isn't unique.  I know at least a few other PCers who are Federal Liberals.

I might still be a registered 'supporter' of the Liberal Party of Canada (barf), because they're always pestering me to give them money. I had signed up to vote in the Liberal leadership election last year - and I didn't even preference Biebertrudeau. I might not bother with voting in 2015 (if I'm in the country).

registered with the Progressive Party here in Oregon because it shares the most of my values and it helps them stay on the ballot, in *most* other states I'd be a registered Democrat, except for like Vermont or something.

I always thought you'd be an NDP type, but I know very little about Canadian politics.

Pestering you to give them money? Yes. that is why, unlike the NDP, we actually have money.  Politics requires money. Get over it

Movements come and movements go. Saying I'm a member of the Feudalist Party in 2014 would be like calling myself a member of the Yippie party in 1974. You have to adapt to the times, and, like Mr. Eugene McCarthy, it's my job to hop from third party movement to third party movement. In this case, what I couldn't accomplish through dividing land up between nobles and vassals, God-willing I'll be able to achieve through ripping hits, downing shots, and all-around raging.

No party affiliation. If I was going to join one, it would probably be the Pirate Party or something.

I'm always confused by this - does this mean you CAN'T register with a party or that you just have open primaries?

I registered as a Libertarian when I was 18. I left the party briefly in 2000 to caucus for Bush, 2004 to caucus for Dean and in 2008 and 2012 to caucus for Paul. This brief forays into the GOP were very brief and I always returned to the Libertarian Party.

Both.

You can't "register" with a party in the sense that there's no way to become associated with a political party besides joining your local county executive committee and paying membership dues.

And all primaries are open, and I regularly vote in both Democratic and Republican primaries depending on the election in question.  Typically vote in Democratic primaries at the county/local level and GOP for statewide offices.  That's why open party registration is so popular in the South - it allows for that local Democratic core that's been present since Reconstruction to stick around because of people like me.

I'm not affiliated with any party.  Most recently I chose the Republican ballot for the 2014 primaries, and almost all the candidates that I voted for ended up losing. Tongue

I'm a registered independent because I was listening to a lot of Amebix when I got my license/registered to vote and felt very no-gods-no-masters as a consequence, despite being functionally Democratic
