Dutch apple for me, with blackberry a very close second and cherry a strong third.

Do Americans not eat mincemeat?

My favourite is cherry, but I have a soft spot for anything with rhubarb. Except rhubarb alone would be weird.

Also, I love the lemon part of lemon meringue, but I can do with out the actual meringue.

Plum cake is by far the best, though just the Austrian variant (not with the plums in the dough, but as topping).
Chocolate cake is good too (Sacher Tongue), as are apricot cake and roll cakes.

My mum makes the best cakes out there, incl. all sorts of Guglhupfs (Schoko, Nuss, Zucchini), Sacher, Apple, Strawberry, Banana/Grapes, Linzer, Bienenstich, Schwarzwälder-Kirsch, Moosby-Kuchen (blueberry) and Tiramisu.

The last 2 are the best of all.

Since Tiramisu is missing in the poll, blueberry.

Damn, I forgot apricot - when in fact there's a tree outside the house of mum's.

Key lime, strawberry, peanut butter. Pumpkin is good if it has a custard base or consistency. It's a holiday staple around here.

I'm not sure if everywhere has peanut butter pie, though (I never really encountered it elsewhere). It's unbelievable. A local restaurant makes it with an oatmeal crust, and it's a true signature dessert. You get a piece for takeout, put it in the refrigerator, and it lasts like three days the thing is so rich. Yum. You take a couple bites, savor it, and put it back. I can't imagine eating the whole piece at one time.

Oh yeah, I forgot Tiramisu and Gugelhupf Tongue

Tiramisu, yes. And cannoli are good too. Never heard of Gugelhupf!

Does "pie" mean cake in German?

Pie and cake is what Kuchen and Torte is in German.

"Pie" can be used for both German names, as can "cake".

Much to my fiancee's chagrin, no.

I prefer coconut cream.

This, but I voted for Apple since I didn't see a Pecan option.
