For those that don't know its Pink Floyd's first album. Many think that Pink Floyd didn't exist before Dark Side but they actually made seven albums before it and PATGOD was a full six years before it. I vote it as a total freedom album as it has an authentic feel to it with the Austin powers type clothing on the cover the apocalyptic title and the triple images of each member. The music itself is ahead of its time and pioneered what I call "space rock". Give it a try: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MwTV23pBm_U

It's a very weird album (clearly due in no small part to some potent acid), but I do like it. I've always particularly liked Astronomy Domine.

Easily one of the best Pink Floyd albums. Even more amazing when you consider how young they were when they made it.

Probably my favourite of their albums. Matilda Mother in particular is one of my favourite songs.

Interesting fact: None of the members of Pink Floyd were regular drug users except for Syd Barrett (who was the main creative influence on Piper, so you are right on that fact). He got so messed up on it that the rest of the group swore off the stuff.

It's a great shame of mine that I've never actually listened to this album.  It's the sort of thing I probably should like, I guess.

Eh, I think Floyd's best song was "Wish You Were Here" (which was a Syd Barrett descended-into-madness tribute), and I don't really care if that makes me look like a noob or whatever.  It was their most human moment, and I have a soft spot for the Tchaikovsky sample.

Borderline HA. It's overrated as far as cult albums go, and most of the pre-Dark Side albums are syperior.

Freedom (sane)

One of my favorite albums, too. With Interstellar Overdrive probably being my all-time favorite song.

Syd Barrett ♥

One of my absolute favorites!  Completely unique in its mix of childish ditties and far out spooky psychedelia.  Barrett was a genius and I'm glad he gave the world this masterpiece before he faded off into seclusion.  My 3rd favorite from the Floyd after Dark Side and The Wall.

didn't Rick Wright get kicked out of the group around the time of The Wall for drug use?
