That I don't disagree with.  The prep book itself was $39, but the shipping was $18 which brought it up to $57.  $39 is still too high, but anyway, it's a moot point.  I've got a job, a job I've been looking for, and hopefully won't be needing the application or the prep book.

After all, I am a little less than 9 months from my 33rd birthday, I need to start a career so I can start planning for my retirement, but more than that, so I can start living the life of a normal, single adult.

One other aspect about the timing of this job is that I won't miss time getting paid.  I still have one more paycheck coming from my previous employer this Thursday, August 7.  The next payday with them would have been August 22.  Since I'm starting tomorrow, the latest I would get my first paycheck is August 22, maybe August 15 if I come in during the middle of a pay period.

I don't purposefully ignore you.  I agree with your response to Inks.  It really is a moot point, I'm just trying to get myself ready for a new job!

I have to be there by 9:00 am tomorrow.  So, I want to be there by 8:40.  I timed it today and it will be take me about 30-35 minutes, so I'll leave here at 8:05.  I'll set my alarm then for 6:20 so I can get a shower, watch the news, eat breakfast, and play on the internet before I leave.  With that in mind, I'm going to try to be in bed by 23:00 tonight.

Having now taken a few of these sample USPS tests, they don't really seem that hard. Passing score (basically the minimum to be eligible for hiring) is 70, in every one I scored above 80. In fact there's a great example of something that would be annoying and maybe difficult to the average person but quite easy for someone who posts on a site called US Election Atlas. Maybe I should apply when any openings and testings occur in the Twin Cities.

My mom and stepdad work for the post office.  The environment and management can be VERY frustrating, but the benefits are great, the union is strong, and between their salaries they live a comfortable life in Burlington County, NJ with a fine house and plenty of spending cash for "nice things", like premium cable and a fridge that is always full.   You should certainly look into it, as one of the "negatives" (many many hours of walking) seems like it would be a positive for an Ingress veteran/urbanite like yourself.
