Yeah I didn't realize he was 293 pounds. Goodness.

That's like 2 Dukeys.

There was a graph of his weight over the course of the series posted a few weeks ago, although it may have been taken down.

It was a graph of reported weight. I can't imagine it fluctuates as much as he claims when he has no diet variety and exercises never.

Right, but it had an averaged weight curve which corrected for Bushie's water weight fluctuations.

He never was this heavy though, if I remember. He was around 275 but it dropped to 260 or so he claimed at points. He had to really try to gain 30 more pounds on top of what he already weighed!

I think so, he's not that tall, which makes his weight even more amazing.

Bushie would've been a hell of a weightlifter. His ability to digest extreme amounts of protein and his OCD planning attitude would've served him well.

It's probably too late now. He has too much fat on him, but if he had any sort of drive for it when he was younger it would've been something.

The weight is such a sad thing. Though I weigh more than 100 lbs less than Bushie, I really relate to Bushie on this one. Growing up on fast food and without any common knowledge about what food should look like is such a common experience in America. If not for an immigrant grandmother and a few foodie friends, I could easily see myself in his shoes. Household skills like sewing and cooking have severely eroded so quickly. Granted, in true American form, we still idolize the overacheivers like Martha Stewart, but there's no longer an implicit sense of value in everybody, or at least somebody in every household doing the basics. Come on, America. You can do this. It's not that hard.

Cooking is a dying thing? People around here love to cook. Food is part of our culture in Charleston. Good food at that.

Bushie just doesn't care and doesn't try. That is his problem. He completely let himself go after the Update went on break and gained nearly 30 pounds. If he is ever going to lose weight, he'd need to change his life and actually want to learn how to better himself, and he doesn't want that.

This whole idea that eating less of the same stuff may drop some weight, but he's still eating incredibly unhealthy. Lunchables for a 32 year old man? My parents wouldn't even allow me to eat those things when I was a kid. I wouldn't dare want to eat one now that I'm an adult.

1 package is 400 cal, 20 g protein. Not too bad. And there's a good amount Vitamin A and C in it.

The sodium and fat is bad, but since he's on the fast lane to death anyway, I think high blood pressure for weight loss would be a good trade off.

Keep eating the terrible canned soups Bushie!

It probably tastes better, too. The logo looks like it should be on a bottle of bleach, but beggars can't be choosers in getting Bushie to eat less than 4000 calories a day.

He spent like $100 of his parent's money buying shorts and shoes to go walking in and then never used them.

Bushie dropped $100-150 of his student loan money on "walking gear," which is presumably really expensive Reeboks that he doesn't wear and maybe some shorts that nobody wants to see him wear.

Treating things normal people do like walking, drinking water, and eating a meal without beef as Olympian activities which require intense training and expensive equipment is a major Update motif.

A blast from the past when he was going to use a walking app to show us how much excercise he did.

I've already tried faking it.  It doesn't work.  The app is too smart for that.  I can't drive 3 mph, plus I would clog traffic.

Another part of the problem is the Southern culture.  Yes, we all know they love them some fatty, greasy carbs, but an equally pressing problem is portion control.  The winner of Teen Chopped a few days ago, an overweight young girl from South Carolina, illustrated this perfectly by heaping a pile on the judges' plates and saying "down south we like to leave with full bellies and a doggy bag for later".  Southerners just keep eating and eating in a single sitting until they just can't stuff any more in there, and that's considered normal.

I'm glad I wasn't the only one thinking of Update when that happened!
