I thought it was obvious that he does, but that he refuses to acknowledge it or seek treatment because that's Not Done in Oklahoma...?

Everything is fine.  My boss and I talked about it in more detail after lunch and he is genuinely pleased with my work and recognizes that I am improving and picking things up nicely.  He wants me to pay more attention to detail and use more common sense when looking at drawings, but, no there is nothing afoot at this place.  The second half of the day was just as good as yesterday was.  The first half of the day was good, but not quite the level of yesterday.  Today was a tale of two halves.  I felt much better after the quick 2 minute talk we had this afternoon.  We even started laughing at some of the corrections that the engineers sent back.  I did nothing wrong, rather the corrections came down after I had made the revisions and sent them in with the information I had at the time.  Anyway, there is nothing wrong going on.  I'm just fine.

Incidentally, I love the forum roller coaster that I'm driving.  I'm learning to live with the ebbs and flows of the job, whereas the forum goes from one extreme to the other with loop-de-loops with every status update I make!

More common sense needs to be exercised?

It's over.

Yeah, "my boss laughs at the quality of my work" isn't exactly good.

He's not close to getting fired but at this pace it's not looking good for him to go from trainee wage to employee salary

This was not my work that we were laughing at.  The engineers changed their minds on a few things and sent it back to us.  I did everything I was supposed to with the information I had at the time.

WM is correct that uproarious laughter is a motif often used by the writers to show Bushie dismissing a serious problem.

Do you all not have bad days at work?

Jeff seems as if he's just telling about conversations that he's having with superiors wherein instruction is given.  I'm guessing that during this trainee period, speed and responsibility (ie: common sense) would be common suggestions for improvement. The important thing, Jeff, is that you keep an open dialog (but brief and not overly needy) with your supervisor to keep the pulse of your performance. And if a suggestion is too vague, ask for clarification.

After just 13 days, I understand that this could always go off the rails, but I'm proud of you for both the work you're doing and the enthusiasm you're showing for making this job a success.

WM is correct that uproarious laughter is a motif often used by the writers to show Bushie dismissing a serious problem.

Like when he laughed to himself during his "diet" after accidentally hitting the Dr. Pepper lever at McDonald's (the location hilarious in and of itself) rather than the Diet Dr. Pepper, and proceeding to drink it anyway, like McDonald's gives a [Inks] if he dumps it out or not.  One year and some change later, Bushie has probably only gained weight since that time.

Thanks, J-Mann and Patrick, this job is literally the best thing to happen to me in quite some time.  I need those little reassurances from my boss every now and then.  I try not to ask too often and in fact this is only the second time I've asked since I started.  I ask him to tell me honestly, and today I could tell he was being honest.  I am starting to get comfortable and get settled into this job.

Good Thursday Morning!  I am awake and ready for another day of work.  This is my last full day of work for the week, as I will have worked two hours extra the first four days this week which will allow me to get off work at 1400 tomorrow and still get all 40 hours.  Week 3 has been a great week and I look to continue that today.

Good Thursday Evening!  I am home from a fabulous Day 14!!  I'm really getting settled into my new career.  There's not a whole lot of news to relay in the work department that I have not regurgitated the past three weeks.  Things are just going tremendously well.  I can't wait to get in there on Friday.  I found out I will have to work until 1600 tomorrow, but that'll be okay.  Tonight, I am going to watch some Preseason Week 3 football - Steelers vs. Eagles on NFL Network at 1830.  After the game, I will watch Big Brother at 2130.  Bed time tonight will be at 2230.  I'm excited about Day 15 and the conclusion of Week 3 of work!!

I'm home from a good day at work.  Week 3 is officially over!  I'm about to go out to eat on this Friday evening.  I'm thinking breakfast for supper.  I may go by Walmart tonight, as well and go ahead and get that out of the way this evening.  Later this evening, I will be watching some more preseason football.  Tomorrow, I'll do my laundry in the early afternoon so I can watch a double header of football tomorrow evening.  And, of course, the highlight of the weekend Sunday morning when I get another opportunity for corporate worship of my Savior and Lord.  Other good news from this morning, I have now lost 9 pounds since mid-July.  I'm down to 284.0!!
