Ernst if Braley keeps running one of the worst campaigns of the cycle

I have to say I genuinely don't know. Ernst is way to the right of Iowa, but Braley's campaign has thus far been a disaster, and he's blown a decent early advantage. Toss-up.

Ernst, as the nature of Braley himself makes it difficult for him to exploit her weaknesses.

Or there's a possibility it's a meme of flopping Democrat candidates for Senate.

Probably Braley but it's not impossible to see him losing. The sad thing is that ideologically, Braley is awesome, and I really love him for being such an outspoken economic populist with a strong record on fair trade and labor unions, but he's really disappointed me. As much as I think it was overblown, the farmer from Iowa comment was really awful.

Ernst will win something like 50-48; Braley's just running too terrible of a campaign to win.

Braley, but by a margin closer than it should have been.

2 points sounds about where the margin will be for this race. Still, while Ernst has quite a bit going for her in the form of her opponent, her own issues and Iowa's Democratic tilt might be enough to save Braley. Ultimately, I'm thinking Braley will win unless Ernst can somehow hold up her current performance until November.

I'm talking more so about the candidate overall than just ideology. Ernst brags about castrating pigs, engages in the conservative side-show of talking about impeaching Obama, and believes a alternate version of history in Iraq. Also, Braley is to the right of most Republican voters on immigration. Ernst wants to eliminate the federal minimum wage. Name me one position Braley has that's as liberal as Ernst's position on the minimum wage is conservative.

Braley wanted to impeach Bush and Cheney because they're actually war criminals. Ernst wants to impeach Obama because she's a sore loser.

Big difference.

Tossup, but I think Branstad on the ballot will give Ernst a small, but significant push.
