Despite his best efforts, Braley.

Where does this whole joke about Bruce TRYING to lose come from? Sorry. This race wasn't really on my radar until it tightened with Ernst.

They don't mean that literally. They're just saying that it was Braley's race to lose, and that the fact that it's now competitive is entirely his fault because he's effing up so much, but that he'll still probably pull it out in the end.

I don't get it either, I would think Braley's stand against Iowa farmers would be a winner in Iowa. And if that isn't enough his brave stand against the powerful therapeutic chicken lobby is inspiring

The fact that Republicans nominated a joke candidate and are still competitive tells you everything you need to know about Braley.

Uh, no. The joke candidate would have been Sam Clovis.

Yea, Clovis would've completely blown it. That being said, Ernst was a far worse general election candidate than Mark Jacobs. Still, it says something about how good of a candidate Jacobs was that he started out ahead and ended up in 3rd place.

Considering that Mark Jacobs' establishment support faltered in the primaries against Ernst, it seems that he could have ended up being one of those self-funded candidates who ultimately failed to deliever in the general, like Carly Fiorina and Meg Whitman. Considering that Braley led Jacobs by a greater margin than Ernst before the primary on June 3, I don't think we could definitively say that Jacobs would have been a stronger nominee.

Braley. The race shouldn't even be close in the first place.

I think Ernst can pull it off, but if the election was today I think Braley would win.  I don't know that she'll be strong enough to prevent that come November.

Braley can win if he just stops talking for the next few months. The only way I see Ernst winning is if Braley keeps making gaffes every other week until Election Day.

Braley will. He's done a decent job at exposing her as the fringe candidate that she is.
