Usually agree, I don't really see anything wrong with particular faith or non faith in charities, that's America, freedom of religion. I suppose what this question is trying to get at is government giving money or resources to religious organizations, when the constitution says the government shall not endorse or establish any religion. I don't really see it that as "endorsing" or "establishing" religion, just helping them for the same cause that the secular organizations will do. Although if I had my way, the government wouldn't be too involved with charities at all. Obviously this isn't a critical to me.

Neutral. I like the idea of giving all charities more resources, but I don't feel like government should be sponsoring any religion.

Disagree. The government should not be funding charities, period. Social welfare should be provided directly by the state, with no middlemen. Charities are mostly a means by which the rich avoid taxation anyway; we should remove their tax-exempt status (starting with churches and other religious institutions) and tax the hell out of them to put the money to good use (i.e. to what charities claim they're using the money for, but on a grander scale), rather than allowing the rich to dodge taxes and pay themselves egregious salaries to 'direct' these foundations.

And to the question, the state should never give money to any religious institution for any reason. Religion and the state should be fully separate, forever and always. The state should not observe religious holidays, state officials should not publicly proclaim their faith in this or that religion, and religion should be severely restricted in the public sphere.

This is one of the weird places where it appears the Atlas' "churchy" bent is evident.

Usually disagree, non-critical.

We have separation of church and state for a reason. The only equal treatment between secular and church I support, in principle, is tax exempt status for both organizations. Therefore, usually disagree.

Disagree/Critical.

Ignoring that this an obvious and troubling interaction between Church and State... religious institutions can not be trusted to do good work without engaging in their brainwashing.
