This is essentially how things work already, but I don't think it would hurt to go ahead and codify it. I support this amendment.

This is an amendment?

If so, could a senator make an amendment in orderto change the title please?
"The Candidacy Withdrawal Initiative Amendment"

Thank you

I would think it would have to be an amendment, given that it involves making a change to the electoral process, frankly.

It might be an amendment, but I'm not sure what it would be to.

I certainly support this, and I think it should be made into an amendment to the constitution as well. I believe it should go inside Article V, Section 1 since that part regulates issues regarding candidacies and offices.

If space wasn't an issue (a ton of stickied / pinned threads isn't good) it would be great to have a "withdrawals and resignations" thread - maybe people who aren't going to be around would USE it! Tongue Sometimes there is confusion about where this stuff should go, but I certainly agree that having this codified is helpful.

If you withdraw a candidace, theoretically one would think you would do it the same place you filed. The same goes with resignation, the same place you entered through you would also exit through, the swearing in thread. Seems to be a rather difficult concept, but more I think it is just laziness over any lack of knowledge.

Why not Article V, Section 1, as I suggested before?

Seems fine with me. Assuming the passage of Yankee's amendment:

I was going to put it in mine, but I didn't have time as there was much to do on Saturday morning.

Definitely support this amendment. I thought that we already had some kind of law addressing this, but apparently not.

Bump, I believe Tyrion's amendment has been approved already (which means we could go to a final vote soon).
