It's amazing how quickly things can turn around. For a while I though Erdogan was going to be a major statesman of the early 21st century but the whole thing just went to hell in a handbasket. It looks like Saudi Arabia will remain the premier Sunni power.

I never saw Erdogan as anything more than another Chavez-esque troll. A statesman of any type coming from the Middle East is less likely than Atlas's own Statesman DW Perry being elected to the Presidency.

You're wrong, Erdogan are much more, he has caused one of the biggest economic boom in Turkish history, he have made the first step to a peace with the Kurds.

Of course sadly the fact that he's fundamental a anti-democratic fundamentalistic strongman with no tact, loyalty and the diplomatic talent of rabid dog have caused other problems.

Around 1/3 of all Jews was killed in the Holocaust, we can think what we will about Israel and their behaviour, but it's nonsence to compare it to Holocaust. Not only that but the hyperbole also result in the Israeli behaviour seem more legitimate, because it focus the attention on when the Jews was the victims in something worse than they do to the Palestinians.
