IDK, I tend to believe that in the general election, McKinney would pull it off.  With CT's public financing, they would each have equal airtime and so McKinney could really boost his name rec.  I don't think he'll win the primary, though, so we'll never know.

I would like to give my congrats to Governor Malloy for his reelection victory. This is 47% bad.

...because an anti-business quote spun by Republicans is comparable to telling workers it's their fault they can't find a job.

^ moves it to at least Tilt D for now.

A huge problem with today's politics is the fact that each side takes glee in the other side's failure.

I'm sure once Foley gets the nomination, Dems will make it an issue, but I think it's fair to say a great number of people haven't even heard the remarks in the State.  I can't find it on any of the local news sites without some serious digging...

Don't go endorsing an equally awful man, though.

I doubt his comments will have very much impact, but we'll see.

As to the thread, I think Malloy will squeak through under 50% again.

I want to see how much damage this does, but I'm not sure it will to do too much.

Reminds of when Herman Cain said "If your not rich or don't have a job, blame yourselves!" Foley deserves to lose after making this comment.

Yeah I've checked. Only one online story, and absolutely nothing from morning news shows.

I've found a full video of what happened.  It's terrible, for a lot of reasons.  Osten looks like a "witch" because she won't given Foley a chance to speak, nor does the other angry employee, and what's clear is they wore Foley down to the point where he got frustrated and lashed out, but Foley does not look like gubernatorial material.  You need to be a lot more personable to win; I've met Governor Malloy on several occasions and he is good at meeting with you, Foley seems stiff.

At the same time, his policies are what this state needs right now. We have a high outward migration rate for a reason.

Yikes. In politics you need to know what fights are worth picking. A very public fight with a bunch of mill workers who just lost their jobs is not a fight worth picking.

And now the comments have caught on.  McKinney released an ad statewide about Foley's comments.

No. 'Sociopath' doesn't mean 'has anger issues' or 'did something indecorous'.

With this ad, combined with all the recent newspaper endorsements and Foley's comment about only being able to lose if gets hit by a bus, could McKinney actually have enough momentum (McMentum) to win the primary?

I don't think there's any doubt that McKinney has the momentum.  I don't know, I feel that McKinney still won't win (though I'll be supporting him), but this isn't going to help Foley in the general.

I might just be saying this because I've been surrounded by "McKinney for Governor" signs everytime I drive around my town, but I'm going to go out on a limb and say McKinney wins with around 52% of the vote tomorrow.

It wouldn't shock me - the momentum has really shifted towards him as of late, but I still think Foley started with too large an advantage, but it could be really close whereas a month ago everyone said it would be more like the McMahon/Shays primary than the Foley/Fedele primary
