Mississippi was on track to be the same way ... until our joke of a governor pulled the plug on the whole thing. Now we're the ONLY state in the whole country to have a higher uninsured rate than in 2010, and Bryant has the audacity to say it's Obama's fault.

Wow. Kentucky really did create great infrastructure for it. A lot of states could learn by their example.

This won't help the Democrats in eastern Kentucky at all.

Wow. Kentucky really did create great infrastructure for it.

Low cigarette taxes and a taste for fast food and copious amounts of hard liquor.  That's the best infrastructure for any ambitious medical plan.

What is the 75% assumption based on?

There's been talk of Kentucky being the state that's best implementing ObamaCare for years now. So not a surprise, but still very good news!

300,000 people qualified for medicaid expansion in Kentucky.

Which was a provision of Obamacare.

Perhaps you overlooked the small print provided in your graphic?

A bit deceptive to say the least.

The first image
is based on the 2012 US Census SAHIE
(uninsured rate is around 15%)

The second image
is the POTENTIAL percentage of the population that is uninsured . . . but wait, there's more . . . It is the potential percentage ASSUMING 75% of new enrollees were previously uninsured.
Given all that, the pre-to-post-ACA delta is still about 6% TOTAL.

what was the source of the op graphic?

Is that nationwide (if you know)?  If there's a calculated industry average, what was the need for the assumption?  I don't really get the point of throwing up a couple of graphics without giving any background as to what led to the creation of those graphics.

I don't know, honestly. I just accepted on faith the map isn't intentionally deceiving. There have been stats about Kentucky cutting its uninsured rate more than in half, and the map looks like to show that.

It's nice to see some good news in these times of economic and environmental uncertainty.

450,000 enrolled via Kynect; 330,000 eligible for Medicaid (290,000 of which were previously ineligible)

Considering that we're talking about people making less than $15k, it's virtually certain that no sizable portion of these people were previously insured.

This entry from June also states that the percentage of QHP & Medicaid enrollees in KY was 75%, according to the state.

I wasn't saying the map is intentionally deceiving.  I just had no clue if that assumption is a random guess, an educated guess based on the region, or something in between.

Anyway, thank you, Adam, for posting the information about the 75%.  It was quite helpful.

How many of these folks know that Kynect is the same thing as <scary music> Obamacare? Especially with the Dems deliberately avoiding pointing out the obvious, in an attempt to prioritize new enrollments over political games. Forgive them, Mr President. They know not what they do.
