Barbara Prammer dead at 60

I have VERY sad news to report:



Barbara Prammer, the popular President of the Austrian Parliament from the Social Democratic Party (SPÖ) and often-mentioned candidate for the 2016 Presidential Election, died of cancer today.

She was 60.

No, not at all.

While there are similarities between Prammer and Clinton when it comes to 2016 talk and their role as champions for women/women's rights etc., Prammer was seen as a humble, very likeable person accross party lines.

Hillary Clinton on the other hand is more like a career-oriented, polarizing and sometimes unlikeable person (see her reaction after Gadaffi's death) and because of 90s related stuff of course. That's why many Republicans don't like her.

Many FPÖ-politicians paid their tributes to Prammer yesterday, so I don't understand your point.

It has been announced today that she will be offered a State Funeral, which is usually only for Presidents/Chancellors or members of the old Royal Family.

The decision about State Funeral/regular funeral will be decided by her family.

Prammer's state funeral will be tomorrow.

Her coffin has been brought to the Parliament building, where people can pay their final tributes:



Then tomorrow, an official final ceremony will be held after which her family will have a private funeral.
