horrible.

unwatchable.

and if the nfl is really serious about head injuries (which i doubt), the preseason should be limited to two games per team at the absolute max.

Boring. College football doesn't need preseason games, and the NFL doesn't really either.

It's a bridge between no football and football. I'll live with it.

The way it's set up, horrible. They need two games to figure out who performs well or not in a game situation. I think the idea is to do that plus steadily increase the work of the starters so that they are ready to go by Week 1, but that's all obsolete now with the amount of offseason training and that camps are a lot more sophisticated now. Plus, in preseason game 4, the starers don't even play. So, two preseason games would be plenty.

Maybe more scheduled but unscored scrimmages combined with just 2 preseason "games"?  The owners LOVE the preseason though, they get to stick it a bit to the season ticket holders by forcing them to buy two meaningless games at regular season game prices.

I'll take it. Just to hear Edmund Nelson's hilarious commentary.

I really like the NFL Preseason.  It is a good way to get back into football after an offseason that is too long, IMO.  I personally think there should be the current preseason structure plus 18 regular season games, not 16.  This would either start the preseason in mid-July or put in the Super Bowl the third week of February.  The NBA would have to move their All-Star Game, but that'd be okay.  I think College Football should be a 14-game regular season with the National Championship in late January, maybe the week before the current Super Bowl.

That would be simply awful.

Apparently there are several presesason games this year in which teams face each other that will later play against each other during the regular season?  (E.g., there was just a Denver-Seattle Super Bowl rematch, and they'll do that again during the regular season.)

That seems especially silly.  If you've got to have a preseason, why not match up teams that aren't going to play against each other for real any time soon?  Otherwise, you're giving the coaches even more incentive to rest starters, limit how much of the playbook they show, etc., so as not to give the other team experience for their more meaningful matchup during the regular season.
