The article surmises that this has to do with Obama's race, and yet if one looks at the actual categories that are about race (skinheads, neo-nazis, anti-immigration, christian identity) they are at a slightly lower perceived threat from the Bush years.  I suppose the "sovereign citizen" rhetoric has been adopted as a justification by some of these groups, and so law enforcement and the media will tend to use it as a catch-all phrase even if the connection is tenuous.  

Sure. The different strands of "thought" used by the sovereigns are pretty broad and divergent. If you clicked the link I had you'll hear one talk about admiralty law, others talk about secret trust funds, the battle time us flag, with gold fringe vs the civil flag, use of the UCC. It does sort of seem that Sheraton Fourth Floor Conference Room College of Law permits ala carte course selection for a degree.

Fortunately only some have resorted to physical violence. Others engage in paper terrorism and try to big down courts and participants by filing "liens". Others are simply deluded and think they've taken the red pill out of the matrix and the rest of us haven't seen the truth yet. Most in my view are hopeless opportunists who want to try and get out of their obligations and will move on with the next scam as they learn of it.

Instead, they use a handful of isolated incidents (many of which have a high possibility of being false flag attacks) to make the claim that ''all right-wingers are potential terrorists'' while at the same time pretending that left-wingers never commit violent acts themselves.

Before you hit me with the usual response that I'm a crazy, extreme right-wing conspiracy theorist who needs to take his meds; take a look at Hal Turner. He's proof that the feds do, in fact, set people up to play the role of their political opponents and act aggressively so they can justify making moves against them. They even encouraged him to use violent rhetoric.
