To refer to something good or great.

I would prefer to use "amazing" over "awesome", if I'd speak English more often.

I've also heard that Canadians use "amazing" much more often than Americans, who use "awesome" most of the time.

What about you ?

...

Amazing (non US-poster).

I have just looked up how often I used "amazing" and "awesome".

I got 2 pages each for both words ... Tongue

Amazing. I haven't used the word "awesome" in years. I guess I'm not much of a bro. I never use "stoked" either.

I think the two are slightly different -- "amazing" is something I use exclusively for natural phenomena/landscapes and human accomplishments, while I might use "awesome" for something more mundane ("an amazing lunch" sounds grating to my ears; "an awesome lunch" sounds awesome).

I use both.  Awesome is for just regular old good news, "I had an awesome game of BF4 today, we won, I went 28 and 5 and blew 4 of the 6 targets."  Amazing is for things that are good AND rare.  "I just shot a hole in one!  Amazing!".

Awesome (non-American, although very much an Americaphile)

I sometimes use amazing though, and it (stylised as A*Mazing) was the name of an awesome kids' game show in Australia back in the mid-late 1990s:

Somewhat derived from the British show Fun House.

Wen you use as many awesome & amazing words as I do, you have to alternate to avoid repetition. If you stick loyally to one word in a description or conversation, you can risk sounding like a moron.
