Elephants are very nice creatures.
Certainly nicer than the other giant thing that gets ridden, the camel.  Those guys are assholes.

The last time I rode a Camel, my cousin was riding alongside on a horse. The horse started galloping, and the camel assumed it was some sort of race and started running too. Let's just say, it was not a pleasant experience.

Yes, back in the early 90s when the zoos were allowed to do that with the Indian elephants before people started getting cute with lawsuits.

15 years ago or so I was the point person for our service group to bring a circus to town as a fundraiser. During the performance they brought a member of the club up to ride an elephant, and I was designated for that.
