Wonderful news! Hopefully this doesn't mean the US will stop bombing ISIS though.

LOL, awesome, the fact that possibly all of Syria, Turkey, Iraq, Iran, and Russia are going after ISIS ought to cause people with dumb foreign policy views (including Hillary) some problems.

I don't get your Hillary reference. What are you referring to exactly?

It seems like the Kurds quickly are quickly retaking the areas they lost to ISIS.
With the air strikes and some reorganization of the army, I think ISIS can be kicked out of Iraq in a few months (or weeks?).
Unfortunately, they will be able to take refuge in Syria and nothing can be done there, except watching horrible people killing each others, and thousands of innocent civilians with them.

ISIS beheads American journalist James Foley.

Horrendous.

And apparently they've got a second journalist (Steven Sotloff) and are threatening to behead him also if the US launches more airstrikes.

Just an absolute horror.   It is time for us to ramp up our sorties and take this thing on the other side of the border. Destroy the whole organization before they scatter and many of them head back to their places of origin in the west.

That's really awful. What disgusting cowardly monsters. We need to kill or help the Kurds kill every single one of them.

That line of thought certainly won't win ISIS any new recruits, right?

Considering that the sentiment is aimed at ISIS and not the local Sunnis, probably not many.

If America never sent a single person to any country ever the world would literally be utopia. Every single bad thing that happens on this gay earth can be backtraced to Amurican Imperialism.

ISIS consists of local Sunnis. A scorched-earth campaign would sour many of them to the United States.

Well, the last positive intervention was against the Nazis. Maybe you could count Afghanistan had it just been an air operation against Al-Qaeda training camps.

ISIS is not local sunnis, though they have made temporary alliance with some local Sunni militant groups.  While there are many ISIS fighters who are Iraqis and Syrians, a large amount, if not an outright majority are foreign fighters from the Arabian Peninsula, Europe, and even as far as the Caribbean. So, no, ISIS is not primarily local Iraqis, and with their policy of destroying Sunni mosques in the region, it's likely they have already overstayed their welcome.

That is the worst part. They (ISI) even have instructional videos where a room full of socially backward men listen intently and with sheer joy on the proper way to behead a kafir or apostate. There is a real darkness in their ideology that cannot be reasoned with.

What is truly delusional is that they apparently think this had any chance of helping them advance their aims.  I don't see this causing the current administration to act any differently than it would have otherwise.

While it's always been a tactic of Islamist terror; relatively comfortable monied terror heads getting poor and stupid people to do their dirty work for them, we now have people from the west, from the UK flying over to basically get to 'play' at being terrorists. It does not help, and I will be attacked for this, that many come from relatively comfortable families where the domestic culture essentially treats them as entitled little princes by virtue of their sex. No one ever questions them, tell them know or calls them out on their self interested stupidity. When this whole sorry mess is over and any of them live to see it, they will be crying to their parents to get back home.
