Do I personally feel that? No. But from a policy stand point, who is the arbitrator of who is and who isn't right and wrong these days? Radical Islam are more complex than “they kill those who disagree” and “they hate freedom.” We are never going to stomp out radical Islam, and we might just fan it’s flames like we did when we first invaded in ’03.

I hope this backfires. I really do. We need to learn a lesson. I guarentee that when the bombs begin to fall we are going to nail a hospital or a school, and ISIS's ranks will only continue to swell.

What is truly delusional is that they apparently think this had any chance of helping them advance their aims.  I don't see this causing the current administration to act any differently than it would have otherwise.

Assad will only press the attack on ISIL when the moderates are all gone in the belief that so-called realists will then back him for the reasons you describe pendragon.  The sad thing is he might be right, but that doesn't mean that we should abandon the moderates and start backing Assad yet.

They are afraid of their own Muslims (which are strong Erdogan voters, too).

More likely because they dislike their own Kurds (who certainly don't vote for Erdogan).
