Just to clarify about third parties, the third party has to get at least .25% of the total popular vote in order to show up in the options, otherwise choose the "other/write-in" option.

Dewey unenthusiastically, or write-in Robert Taft. Not sure which one yet.

Was this Taft's first attempt at the nomination? If it was, then Taft.
I think that Robert Taft actually sought the Republican nomination in 1940, but did not strongly seek it until 1944.
