I hope President Obama will be able to serve out is second term. Impeachment is unlikely, but for whatever reason Biden could become president before this term expires.

Would Biden run for a term in is own right or would he step aside for Clinton? Might Clinton challenge the president? If he runs, could he win? One thing is certain, an unexpected Biden presidency before 2016 would change much on the next election.

It depends on a few factors such as how he becomes President.

If Obama's forced out of office, it would hurt the Democratic ticket in 2016.

If Obama resigns due to illness or complications from an assassination attempt by a right-wing nutjob, it would help the Democratic ticket. In that case, Biden would have the advantage of incumbency. Hillary Clinton would be a strong opponent, but a President Biden who has demonstrated sober leadership would be tough to beat, especially in a primary.

Never underestimate Biden. His debate performances show that he is what we on TV Tropes call a Bunny Ears Lawyer

If Biden became President in 2014 or 2015, his chances of running probably increase significantly. There is a chance however that the Democrats might convince him to step aside for Hillary and enjoy his two year term.

I could see him running in this scenario, even if Clinton runs.  Assuming that Obama finishes his term, he'd probably step aside for Hillary, but I think he'd run if Hillary does not, whether or not he's the incumbent.  He still wants to be President.
