Okey dokey, it's time for more Nasolation.

As introduced by Sen. Naso:

The Emergency Relief Act

CLAUSE I
In the event of a natural or manmade disaster, the Atlasian government will be on stand by to deploy national guard, federal aid, and relief to affected areas.

CLAUSE II
In the event of an impending natural disaster, such as a hurricane or a winter storm, the Governor of that Region will declare a state of emergency for the state(s) in the expected path of the event.

CLAUSE III
After the disaster has taken place, the government will be prompted to respond in 48 hours or less. (UNLIKE THE TSUNAMI DISASTER)

I hereby open debate on this bill.

Wow, I think everything but clause 3 is law already, and I'm not sure if you guys want to take time to mandate a timeframe for aid.  Call this to a vote Senators.

Let it be known:

I consider the election of Chief of Staff Mike Naso to be a manmade disaster.

Therefore I will request federal relief for District 3 in the form of Chief of Staff Mike Naso being ejected from the Senate.

The government will have 48 hours to respond.

Prompt them all you want, but this legislation doesn't force the govt. to do anything.

Okay, prompted makes this bill worthless

Can we get a senator to sponsor this Senate Procedural Resolution.

Resolution on Bullsh!t Bills

Can be quoted as the Mike Naso Sucks Resolution

1) All Bills introduced by Mike Naso go to the back of the queue as new bills are introduced.

2) Any Mike Naso Bill that reaches the floor will go to an immediate vote.

3) If any Mike Naso Bill passes, any senators who voted aye will be censured by the Senate.

4) Mike Naso will be referred to in all Senate documents as "Chief".

Current resolutions state that a vote can be started 24 hours after a bill has been introduced unless debate arises, and I don't really want to break procedures, so unless Naso chooses to withdraw this bill it will come to a vote at around 7:30 PM tomorrow.

Naso these things are already implied, thats what happens when a natural diaster occurs. There doesnt need to be a law about it.

If this bill passes, saying 'UNLIKE THE TSUNAMI DISASTER' could be illegal if you are over 48-hours old...

I propose an amendment to strike clauses 2 and 3 from this bill, and to edit clause 1 to the following:

In the event of a large-scale natural disaster, the Atlasian government will attempt to assist the affected area where possible. If necessary, financial aid shall be given to the affected area at levels determined by the Secretary of State.

Pretty common sense, but it isn't a bad idea to legally determine resposibility for emergency aid internationally. "Man-made disaster" is way too subjective, imho.

That is not needed either. A clause stating that the federal government should procure aid to help in the event of natural disasters is already in the Powers of the Senate and Regions Amendment as well as the new Constitution. Like it or not this nation only has a responsibility to provide aid for the citizens and residents of Atlasia not the whole world. While I believe the government should provide aid in the case of natural disasters it should not be forced upon the government to do so. This is unneeded.

I see no reason to add an amendment to a pointless piece of garbage legislation.

I've tried to be respectful to Naso but this is getting ridiculas.  I wonder if I could get an amendment proposed that would require someone (like the PPT) to approve of all Naso bills before they are brought to the floor to take up needed space.  Or, maybe it would take a constitutional amendment.  Either way, I'm sure it will pass.

Rats, and here I hoped I could just call a vote and get this thing done with. Smiley  I suppose I have to open a vote on Hughento's amendment.

I hereby open voting on this amendment.  All senators in favor, vote "aye"; all against, vote "nay".

---

Abstain.  I'm going to be voting nay anyway no matter what happens, given how pointless this bill is, so it's immaterial to me where this goes.

This legislation adds no law that isn't already in existance or changes any old one, EVEN with the Hughento Amendment.

I'm with Gabu on this one.

I don't see any point to adding pointless amendments to a crappy bill I'm already voting against.

Nonetheless, to get the ball rolling on this one I will be voting...
