I think Reagan was the last US president who never ordered air strikes on targets in Iraq.  Who will be the next president who doesn't do so at some point during their administration, and approx. when will they be inaugurated?

I think bombing Iraq will evolve into a Presidential tradition, like throwing the first ceremonial pitch in baseball.

Probably Rand Paul if he is ever elected.

Probably because Reagan gave Iraq many of the weapons that they would attempt to use against us in the Gulf War.

Lest we forget that these two were pretty much BFFs back in the day...

I wouldn't be so sure, Rand isn't the staunch non-interventionist Ron is. If things continue the way they're going now, he'll be heavily pressured to do something by just about everybody on the right and many on the left as well.

You're right, sadly.

After that op-ed written by the DNC responding to Paul a short time ago, I think the Democratic Party would be all over him.

*bump*

The next presidential administration is nearly upon us.  I suppose if the battle for Mosul goes really well, then IS won't have much foothold left in Iraq.  But they'll still presumably have enough presence there by Jan. 20th that the next president will still be bombing Iraq.  Maybe the next president after that though?
