The intention of this bill, Mr. Speaker, is to put liberty into the hands of The People. I honestly don't see any harm in allowing those not operating a motor vehicle to consume alcoholic beverages. I don't believe the police have any business penalizing passengers for drinking. A car is a fantastic place to be drunk if you are a passenger. Tongue

I will support any bill that encourages the use of alcohol.

I also support this bill. This is a common sense bill that promotes liberty and stimulates the already-thriving alcohol industry in the Northeast. As long as you are not a danger to others, drinking should be legal, even if you're not at a bar.

Seems good enough. There are some who are concerned about consumption of alcohol by passengers (worried that an intoxicated driver would somehow try to pass the buck on his passengers) but I don't think that's grounded in reason.

I might want to do a language clean-up but I support regardless.

Passengers drinking alcohol in a car is no more dangerous to public safety than playing loud music while driving. The latter is not banned and I see no reason why the former should be either. I will sign this bill, and I encourage the Assembly to pass it swiftly.
