In light of recent events, I figured why not?

Would have probably been one of the top ten worst members of the Democratic caucus, right up there with Schumer, Gillibrand, Feinstein, Booker, Pryor, and Menendez.

Glad to see her gone for good once the primary settles.

I had a decent opinion of her, even during the primary, but that's gone once she went McDaniel on us. HP.

FF. Its a damn shame she's not in that seat.

She's one of the most conservative members of the Hawaii delegation. Gabbard is the only one with a DW-Nominate score further to the right.

IT WAS HIS DYING WISH!!!!1!!

Anyway, HP. I probably am more closely aligned with her than Schatz, but that seat belongs to the people of Hawaii, not Daniel Inouye.

Er, my primary reason for supporting her wasn't Inouye's letter. I never said that it was; not sure where you're getting that from Tongue Was it a factor though? Yes.

Call me radical, but I think she was the better quilified candidate.

She'd still be a reliable vote on the major Democratic legislation. I'm ideologically closer to her, so shame on me for endorsing her.

Gabbard is a two faced corporate shill, as is her father, Mike.

Anyway, HP.

Have you not been paying attention to her recent sore-loser shenanigans? She's proven it was a very good thing she wasn't elected. Don't be ridiculous.

I didn't even mind her in the primary. I thought it was good she ran. Schatz should have had to fight for his seat. And he did. And now Hanabusa is a terrible person.

Tentatively FF for now, but that will change if she continues down the path of sore loserdom.

I know her dad is trash, but I had the impression that she had moved left and was pretty much a standard, if more moderate, liberal.

I'm not convinced that she went from totally hating gay marriage, to totally supporting it. I think her real views socially are very Conservative.

But Democrats don't get elected in Hawaii if they are THAT far right. So she just covered that part of her life (when she was in the State Legislature and Honolulu City Council) up.

This is a very good article explaining it all:

As do I. It's a shame we don't have any Bernie-types in Hawaii.

Well, Brian Schatz is a slightly more moderate Bernie, and Stanley Chang (Councilman for the fourth district of the Honolulu City Council, he ran for congress this year) is very progressive too.

I certainly don't like that she felt entitled to that Senate seat. If she'd instead chosen to run for Governor, I think she'd likely have won the primary and would be on the road to victory in the general.
