Is the town in which you currently reside generally aligned with your political party affiliation and views?

My home town is full of fiscally conservative, socially liberal Republicans. So it is not in general, although they are good people to grow up around, as opposed to reactionary southern Republicans.

My college town is predictably Democratic-voting, so yes.

How about you?

Well, my riding is a swing riding and I'm a swing voter. So I would say yes.

No, and I don't think any place ever will. Only about 10% of the population is actually libertarian, and that's being generous.

My hometown only voted Obama by 7 votes in 2008, so no.

My college town is of course pretty Democratic.

Well, there's more registered Democrats than Republicans here. And I'm a registered Democrat, so.

Surpisingly, my home village occasionally votes for the SPÖ rather than the ÖVP... But that's more just the more bearable of two not-so-super parties... And the FPÖ is gaining rapidly...

My city is swing but the county as a whole is GOP. The Dems need to be careful that they don't annex themselves out of power

Basically, though I'd imagine I'm further to the left than many Democrats here. Delaware County is ancestrally Republican but has swung to the Dems due to the insanity of the GOP.

My city is very swingy, so no. My neighbourhood is Liberal, so no. My apartment complex did vote NDP in 2011, but other than that, always goes Liberal, so not really either.

I guess, as >80% Democratic cities go, it's about as close as I'm going to come.

Sort of.  Manheim Township is fairly stable, largely consisting of white collar, upwardly mobile, middle- and upper middle-class working folks.  They tend to have small families and prioritize their childrens' educations.  They tend to enjoy libraries, parklands, clean streets, and well-maintained sidewalks and cycling paths.  Curbside recycling is a priority as well, as is air and water quality.  Taxes are a bit high for my tastes, but I guess you have to pay for the parks somehow.

On the other hand, they seem to support unnecessarily high security.  One guidance counselor in one elementary school gets busted with porn on his computer and they send out a letter to all parents.  500 miles away somebody shoots up an elementary school and suddenly all the schools here start having "lockdown drills" and put bolts on the doors and require all visiting parents to get a criminal background check (at the visiting parent's expense!)  Such an environment is not the sort of nurturing educational environment I'd want to create in the public schools and I'm not convinced that it sends the right sort of message to the students.  They also push "respect" constantly.  The school pledge requires students to say that they'll respect their teachers and fellow students.  In my ethical system, respect is earned, not bestowed.  Treat them with courtesy, of course, but if you my respect that'll take time.

I read somewhere that "Obama lost ground in Manheim Township compared to 2008..."  Since I voted for Obama in 2008 and Romney in 2012 I guess it would be fair to say that Obama "lost ground" with angus as well.

Overall, it's sort of a mixed bag.  I'm not sure which way to vote so I'll leave it blank for now.  I'll let the gubernatorial election in November be the deciding factor.  If more vote to oust Corbett than to re-elect him, then they are aligned with me.  If more vote to re-elect him than to oust him, then they are not.

Not really.  Sioux Falls is moderate compared to South Dakota as a whole, but it voted for Bush.  While the city backed Obama in 2008, it flipped for Romney in 2012.

I suppose I could echo ElectionsGuy and say that nowhere is aligned with me politically since I'm far from a standard Republican, but more practically, my city is quite Republican (though I believe Obama just edged McCain in 2008; could be wrong, though), my county is very Democratic (Cuyahoga), and my state is swingy, with perhaps the slightest Republican tilt (Ohio).
