Perhaps we could have Britain as an NPC for some time? It should be recognized that the Empire is not in the most attractive position given the logistical nightmare and the problems with the independence movements, so it is understandable that it's not a likely choice for a player at the start of the game. Plus, I really want to see this started!

And every player has confirmed that they're still in. I have to write up a bit of the first turn (particularly doing some research on what exactly was going on in China at the time ), but we're almost ready to go. The gameplay thread will be a separate one, while this thread will serve as discussion of the game itself.
