Any chance that the NY Times or whoever will do an exit poll?

Chill, people. Teachout will be lucky to hit 40% or win a single county. The Cuomo campaign is worried because that an outside--but politically embarrassing--possibility, but they're not 'panicking' because there's no chance of an actual loss.

Eric Cantor wasn't 'panicking' either...

Eric Cantor wasn't 'panicking' either...

He also wasn't running in a statewide race in New York.

And...just because it's unexpected doesn't mean it can't happen. I don't think Teachout will win either, but Cantor's loss just goes to show you that the unexpected sometimes happens.

Cuomo's allies have gone berserk attacking Teachout for being "anti-Israel". So what did she say that was anti-Israel? Beats me, but I guess it's in here somewhere:

Why does a governor need a policy on Israel anyway?

Yeah, this whole Israel thing is making me wonder what Cuomo's tracking polls are showing. I'm guessing they don't like the trend.

Last minute upsets are more likely to happen in congressional primaries or elections in small states (IE- Alaska's 2010 Republican primary.)

That said, 2010 Republican candidate Carl Paladino overperformed polls by about 20 points, so upsets are possible in New York primary electios. However, the Democratic primary will include more votes.

I wish somebody would leak Cuomo's internal polling.

All the polls I've seen has Cuomo's approval/favorable rating at 70-80 among Dems I think the dissatisfaction with Cuomo is really overrated.

The call mostly focuses on Hochul. I guess things aren't looking too good for her.

The Clintons are good friends with Cuomo. They would back him whatever his ideology.

The only thing that is interesting about it is that they felt the need to bother her at all.

I'm in the NYC Media Market so I see all the Cuomo ads, and the ones I've been seeing in the last few days are basically "KATHY HOCHUL IS MY RUNNING MATE VOTE FOR HER TOO PLS" so her numbers must be in very poor shape.

A few things here…

1. Israel IS a New York issue because the State of New York purchases bonds in Israel AND has contracts with Israeli security, tech, etc. companies, and "talk" is not cheap when it comes to this issue.

2. IF Teachout and Cuomo were somehow to get the same number of votes, Teachout would have to win progressives in the city and anti-Cuomo people in Upstate New York. Cuomo will do well in Nassau, Suffolk, and Westchester. These are moderate Democratic counties with large Italian populations where there is little WFP and agri-progressive grassroots organizing. Run of the mill, standard, unimpressed with Teachout's "change" and "progress" agenda.

3. The concern about Cuomo is that if Hochul loses (or if Cuomo gets under 70% of the vote), the third parties, minor but somewhat powerful, may no longer be interested in dealing with Cuomo and settling for tepid achievements.

I doubt her numbers are bad.  I suspect there are a lot of undecideds in any poll of the Lt. Governor's race.  It's much more likely that nobody knows who the Lt. Governor candidates or who they are affiliated with, and Cuomo is making sure that voters get the message that Hochul is with him through his ads and robocalls.

Hochul will really clean up in Western New York.  Western New Yorkers have a history of overwhelmingly supporting candidates from their own region.  The aim of Cuomo's ads is to get her numbers up in the rest of the state.

Could the Cuomo people be reacting this way in order to damp down expectations, so that they well end up looking good next week if they do well?

Everyone is throwing around different numbers. Union organizer that's backing Cuomo says Hochul will pass 70. (I'm doubtful about that.) Only four days left!

Paladino also cleaned up in western New York...

Anyway, I'm gonna make a bold prediction and say that Teachout carries Ulster county. She probably has a good shot in Dutchess (my county) too.
