Huge Teachout surge in Erie for some reason! Cuomo now leads only 54-42 statewide!

I saw the same thing.  The Cuomo-Hochul gap there is now massive.  One of the two numbers must be a typo.

I can't figure out where it happened.  a lesson against reacting moment-to-moment with these things.

Basically, briefly there was a huge typo in Erie, which now got corrected.

Yes, "corrected" by Cuomo and his thugs.

These election results once again proving that there is a cool upstate and a bad upstate.

Also that Teachout should have found a black guy to be her running mate.

Unless you are joking, you´d need evidence for that. Erie was showing a solid Cuomo lead from the very beginning, then, briefly, it was replaced by a substantial Teachout lead - without Hochul´s lead being affected. Unless you know a neighborhood in Buffalo that is dramatically unlike the rest of the place, those Teachout votes simply didn´t have anywhere to emerge from.

It was a joke, obviously.

EDIT: The Hochul-Cuomo gap has narrowed considerably.

Teachout takes the lead in Dutchess (my county)! Hopefully my county won't be complicit in nominating this jerk.

Why is Teachout doing so much better upstate?  I don't understand it.  Perhaps, it's just how racial and transactional NYC politics tends to be.  If Teachout had unions to do GOTV and some black and Hispanic support, this might be interesting.  Or maybe upstate is boring enough that people have time to read the paper and find out how terrible Cuomo is.

Basically, it is the counties with very small Dem primary turnout, so far. Cuomo simply did not bother doing the GOTV there, probably.

those counties may lack a functioning Dem machine so only nerds who cared showed up to vote.  the numbers are very low.

In the 12 counties where Teachout is in the lead/has won, she got a grand total of 6,096 votes - nearly half of that from Albany. Basically, very low turnout places, no GOTV.

As a fracking supporter, I cannot say that I am too unhappy with the eventual outcome Smiley

Why don't they call it for Cuomo and Hochul.  Enough votes has come in for different types of areas to make it clear that both would win, Hochul by a smaller margin of course but she will win.
