Okay something just happened and now Cuomo leads 63-33 again?

I can't figure out where it happened.  a lesson against reacting moment-to-moment with these things.

Basically, briefly there was a huge typo in Erie, which now got corrected.

Yes, "corrected" by Cuomo and his thugs.

Unless you are joking, you´d need evidence for that. Erie was showing a solid Cuomo lead from the very beginning, then, briefly, it was replaced by a substantial Teachout lead - without Hochul´s lead being affected. Unless you know a neighborhood in Buffalo that is dramatically unlike the rest of the place, those Teachout votes simply didn´t have anywhere to emerge from.

Why is Teachout doing so much better upstate?  I don't understand it.  Perhaps, it's just how racial and transactional NYC politics tends to be.  If Teachout had unions to do GOTV and some black and Hispanic support, this might be interesting.  Or maybe upstate is boring enough that people have time to read the paper and find out how terrible Cuomo is.

Basically, it is the counties with very small Dem primary turnout, so far. Cuomo simply did not bother doing the GOTV there, probably.

In the 12 counties where Teachout is in the lead/has won, she got a grand total of 6,096 votes - nearly half of that from Albany. Basically, very low turnout places, no GOTV.

As a fracking supporter, I cannot say that I am too unhappy with the eventual outcome Smiley

Manhattan is voting Cuomo/Wu so far with 15% in.

They are the only ones to have read politics forums diligently enough to know Smiley

The geographical divide in upstate New York is there even if you leave out the cities where one would expect a GOTV machine. And it's not really the traditional Western New York vs. the rest distinction. There is some loose correlation with the 2012 presidential swing.

True. It seems, Dems in conservative places do not feel like nominating somebody who, at the head of the ticket, would destroy them locally in the general.

He's under 60% again. If he's under 60% in the final count, I'll be very pleased.

The Bronx is far behind in counting. So, that should clinch it. Then, again, there is still nothing from Nassau.

I think this proves that Cuomo deserved a more robust challenge.

Imagine if someone like Hakeem Jeffries had run against Cuomo.  Cuomo would lose for sure.

There is still ample reserve in GOTV effort. I doubt, he used the organization nearly in full.

Given what is missing, Cuomo should get to 61%, methinks.

It's crazy how accurate a bellwether county Westchester is.

At this point, both are at 60.4%

Teachout can't concede to Cuomo because he didn't give her his number. What an asshole.

That would require acknowledging her existence, which I doubt is any more likely to happen tomorrow than it was yesterday.

I don't know. He may kind of have to after this.

You think? I can picture Cuomo flipping tables and ordering his lackeys to hit the streets and crack some skulls a lot more easily than I can imagine him uttering Teachout's name in public. But I'll be very happy if my imagination is misleading me.

If she is willing to robustly campaign for him, he might.

LOL, why would she campaign for a corrupt politician guaranteed of re-election?

Well, may be she wants his phone number Smiley

With 81% reporting it is 60.6%. Cuomo should break 61% (the Bronx is still only at 52%)

Ugh, IDC Tony Avella is holding on against John Liu 52-48 with 59% in. Sad

We need a left-wing Tea Party. I'm sick of this sh*t.

No wonder they don't take the left seriously. There needs to be some repercussions for being a sh**tty Democrat. Sure, sometimes someone is primaried from the left like Joe Lieberman or Albert Wynn, but it's pretty rare.

You are mistaken. As far as the party is concern, the good Democrat IS Cuomo.

85% reporting (56% from the Bronx), Cuomo at 60.9%. Should get it to 61.5%, I guess.

Primarying people aside, New York politics is terrible.  We need actual grassroots progressive organizing.  We've never created that infrastructure because we never needed it to win statewide.  Relying on these corrupt unions and machine politics might be fine in an general election, but it leaves us with no strength to hold these bums accountable.

Dem party is, primarily, urban. You have any problem with that?

With 86% reporting it is, actually, slightly down: to 60.7%. I think it was a bit of Manhattan.

The Cuomo-Hochul spread is a lot smaller than I thought.  The Cuomo machine did its job in getting the machine vote to Hochul well.

And whatever it did not, she did a good job compensating in the Upstate. She is a solid politician, always liked her.

I don't know what you mean.

Where there are a lot of people, there has to be a good machine to run them Smiley
