If Massie gets more recognition, his numbers should go up. If Paul can't run for re-election while running for president, then Massie would be the next best pick for sure. I think this race becomes a toss-up between Beshear and a non-Paul. It should be likely R with a non-paul and a some dude Dem. And Safe R with Paul and a some dude Dem.

Would Grimes run again if she lost to McConnell by a respectable margin? She might be formidable against a non-Paul.

If Paul doesn't run the nominee will most likely be Massie but he won't get a free ride in the primary. I think the Dem nominee will be Edelen who could make the race at least somewhat competitive.

Why does everyone assume Massie will be the republican nominee? The Kentucky delegation most certainly has a other congressmen who'd like to move up to the Senate. Also the GOP establishment wouldn't want another Libertarian/Tea Partier in McConnell's backyard.

Massie's the most obvious choice, but obviously I agree he won't necessairly be the nominee. Trey Grayson, Brett Guthrie, and whoever Comer picks up for Lieutenant Governor could definitely beat Massie.
