How Common Is Your Last Name?
«
on:
April 06, 2005, 12:35:28 am »
Well...
http://www.gens-us.net/
This is mine
I would have to say that that looks quite correct. I went through the last names of all the people I knew that I could think of. Suprisingly, this friend of mines name was the least common I could find...

And this map is out of date. It should have 4 listed for Florida. And all those people on the map are related to me by blood or marriage.

My family's been living in SC since 1998 (six people), so the map is a little inaccurate. But it's a pretty rare name nonetheless.

I thought'd be fun to post candidates' last names. (This thing is pretty fun to play with

Interesting. Dukakis and Mondale are super rare names, especially Dukakis. I wonder if that hurt them.
Some of the names are really spread out like Kennedy has 100-4999 people in every state except ND, where it has 50-99.
Other's are very non-spread out like Kerry, which has over 100 in 2 states, 50-99 in 12 states, and 0 in 7 states.

Hmmm... interesting bit of trivia...
Two of the oldest streets in Erie are Clinton and Gore St. Not only to they intersect, but my one professor, who is a ardent Republican, has lived at the exact intersection since 1990.

Acctually, according to what he told me, all of the four corner houses were sporting Bush/Quayle sings in '92. However, on of his neighbors broke ranks and went with Clinton/Gore in '96.
