Even liberals are catching on. The fat cats are swelling the government education industry complex, and they're winning the treasury.

Must be a mission accomplished moment.

Excellent news! These brave educators and protectors of our children will surely smash the anti-children school-haters and take this great country back.

They certainly are doing some smashing. The public treasury is under siege.

You mean the treasury currently owned and operated by corporate pigs and the reactionary politicians who do their bidding? Glorious news! The People's Siege shall surely end in victory!

Well, yes, that treasury. I always marvel at our agreements. But why would the siege ever end?

History will note this as an excellent example of a long con.

Yes, it will, which is why these brave school faculty and staff ought to be applauded for their efforts against it.

Comparing "percent change" between a large population (teachers) and a small population (support staff) is the ultimate fun with stats manipulation.

If only we could put those countless thousands of special ed teachers out of work. That would fix the economy in a minute!

Of course, the link provides actual numbers. Despite the K-12 student populations being very similar, there were 3.4 million employees in 1970 and 6.2 million in 2010. Imagine that!

While the explosion of education administration is a problem, there are also other, more fundamental reasons for the exploding cost therein. Granted, my knowledge of the problem mostly relates to college-level education, so I am ill-equipped to comment about what is happening at the K-12 level.

The disproportionate amount of resources given to special education at the expense of other students is self-defeating and illogical.
